If updating your iPod doesn't work, you might have to resort to restoring your iPod This means it will be reverted to factory settings and you will lose everything on the device. If you have all the information on your iPod saved on your iTunes program, you will be able to add everything back to your iPod once the restore is complete. If you haven't saved the music or other items in your iTunes, however, you just might have lost them for good. That's why it's important to always back up your iPod files!

Not long ago, my hard drive crashed and along with it went my entire iTunes library of nearly 10,000 songs. At first, I panicked, then I remembered that the entire collection was on my iPod. When I got my new PC, I thought I'd be able to install iTunes and sync it back. I was dead wrong.
